Front Panel and LED’s
  • Two Disk Bay labeled Disk 1 and Disk 2.
  • Ready steady green when the NAS is working properly.
  • Error amber light flashes at boot up or hardware error.

Back Panel
  • Power Switch that powers the Instant GigaDrive.
  • AC Input is where the power cord is plugged in.
  • Reset Button will clear all current settings.

Installation Wizard
  • When you insert your Setup Wizard CD in the CD-ROM drive a Welcome screen will appear.
  • Make sure your NAS Server is connected and powered on.
  • To Setup NAS, press the Setup button.

Welcome Screen
  • You may also click on the button to view the  User Guide.
  • LINKSYS WEB button will take you to the Linksys web site for all the latest product information and check for current firmware.
  • Exit button will close the Step Wizard and take you to your desktop.
  • Click the Setup button to configure your NAS Server.

Instant GigaDrive Found
  • When you clicked on the Setup button a window will appear saying “Searching For Instant GigaDrive”. Now you can select the GigaDrive from the Selected Drive window.
  • Search Again button is used to rescan your network for the GigaDrive.
  • Create a Shortcut button will create a short cut to your desktop, if your adding a printer to the NAS Server.
  • Click Yes if you want to change any of the settings or No if you want to keep these settings.

Changing Instant GigaDrive Settings
  • Server Settings window, you can allow the NAS to use the Fixed IP address or a Dynamic IP address.


  • Fixed IP address If there's no DHCP server on the network.
  • Dynamic IP Address if you wish to have the NAS server obtain an IP address automatically from a DHCP server.
  • Click Next to continue.

Instant GigaDrive Server Settings
  • When selecting Fix IP address, you can change the IP address and Subnet Mask to match your network.
  • Default Gateway is for your router’s IP address.
  • If you selected Dynamic IP Address, this window is bypassed by the Setup Wizard.
  • Click Next to continue.
  • GigaDrive default IP address is 192.168.1.77

Attention
  • The Setup Wizard Attention window will notify you that you might not be on the same LAN segment with the GigaDrive.


  • Click Back to re-configure the GigaDrive.


  • Click Next to ignore the issue and to continue with the setup.

DHCP Server
  • Select the check box  to enable the GigaDrive to act as your DHCP Server.
  • Start IP Address will be the starting point for the GigaDrive to assign an IP Address.
  • Finish IP address will be the last IP address it will assign.
  • Click Next to continue.

Time and Date Settings
  • Time Zone: Select your Local Time Zone.


  • Locale Date: Select Month, Date and Year.


  • Local Time: Select your Local Time.


  • Click Next to continue.

New Settings
  • Click Save to save your new GigaDrive Server Settings.


  • Click Back to reconfigure your GigaDrive.

Saving Your New Settings
  • You will be asked to confirm you new settings by clicking OK to change the settings of the GigaDrive.


  • If you don’t want to save the new settings click Cancel.

Congratulations
  • Your Instant GigaDrive has been successfully been configured.


  • Click Exit to return to the desktop.

Welcome
  • Open your Web Browser and Enter the IP Address (default IP Address is 192.168.1.77).
  • When the Welcome screen appears, users can gain access to either the Private Data or Public Data.

User Password
  • Here is where the user can change His/Hers Password to the NAS.
  • Enter the User Name and then His/Hers Existing password.
  • Type in the new password
  • Enter to confirm the new password.

Administrator tab
  • When you Click the Administrator tab you will be prompt for User Name and Password.
  • Default User Name is administrator
  • Default Password is left blank.
  • Click OK to administer the Instant GigaDrive.

LAN
  • IP address: select between Obtain IP Address or set for Fix IP Address.
  • DCHP Server: Enable DHCP Server Function
  • DNS Servers: Set your Primary, Backup 1 and Backup 2. Both backups are optional.
    • DNS is required for Email messages.
  • Click Save to save new settings or Cancel the new settings.

System
  • Identification: allows you to change the name, comment, Workgroup and Printer Name.
  • Location: allows you to change your time Zone, Local Date and Local Time.
  • WINS: enable WINS option.
  • Operation: allows you to enable failed logins, FTP Server, UPnP Support and HTTP port number to connect to Server.

Users
  • Existing Users: list of current users.
  • Properties: Here is where you can create a new User with Password protection when you check the box to Create Private Folder and location and Enable Disk Quota in MB.
  • Click Save As New User.
  • Click Save when done.

Status
  • System: buttons will allow you to Shutdown Now, Restart now or View Log.
  • Printer: buttons allow you to Delete Current Job or Delete All Jobs.
  • Disk: view information for Disk 1 and Disk 2.
  • E-Mail Alert: Enable to send E-Mail when problems are detected to at least two E-Mail addresses.

Groups
  • New Groups: Allows you to create new groups.
  • Existing Groups: a list of current Groups created.
  • To view current Access and Members, select the existing group and click either the button for Access or Member to even to delete group.

Share
  • Share are folders at are available to the Network.
  • Existing Shares: shows all existing shares.
  • Access: shows the Groups which have access rights.
  • Browse: use to view files and folders in selected share.

Share
  • Properties: Fill in the Name, Comment, Location or Specify to add a new share.
  • Click on Save as New Share to save your new share.

Backup
  • Data Backup: to enable backup between disk 1 and disk 2. Click on Start Backup Now.
    • Backup Time, you can select Every Day or choose one day of the week for every week.
  • Config Backup: You can download your current settings on the GigaDrive to your PC and upload later. By clicking either Download or Upload button.

Disk Settings
  • Format Disk: you can choose to format disk 1 or Disk 2.
  • Self-test (S.M.A.R.T): allow you to run a self-test on the hard drive by clicking Test Now.

Disk Settings
  • Scandisk: allow you to Run a Scandisk on either Disk 1 or Disk 2. you can also specify one day a week every week.
  • Defrag: allows you to run a defrag on either Disk 1 or Disk 2. You can also specify one day a week every week.
  • Standby: to set hard disk to standby mode after 30 minutes or select from the drop down menu.

Upgrade
  • Current Firmware: to check your current firmware. You can also click Check for Update from the Linksys Web site for any current information for the GigaDrive.
  • Upgrade: click the Browse… button to upload file. Click the Star Upgrade button to begin.
